Dave Grohl wept over Florence Welch’s Glasto show
Florence + the Machine were moved to the top spot on the bill at the last minute, a decision with which Grohl completely agreed.
He said: “I was so excited when they announced they would, I emailed Florence to congratulate her”.
I feel the spontaneity of this example we’re in proper now simply brings out a smile in everybody,”Dave broke his leg final month, when he fell off the stage throughout a gig in Gothenburg in Sweden”.
His injury forced the band to cancel their heading appearance at this year’s Glastonbury festival in England, though they were shortly back on the street once more after he received treatment. The day after the gig, someone sent me a link to the performance and I cried like a f-king baby. “Ever since I started playing, my right calf muscle has been twice the size of my left, from stomping the hell out of my pedal”, he says.
However, the band were still upset at having to miss their performance as they previously met Florence “ages ago” and “immediately hit it off”, so wanted to hang out with her again while at the event.
“She gave me great advice for healing broken bones and said ‘We’re going to cover ‘Times Like These, ‘” he recalled.
It should be noted, that this is the same reaction we have whenever we watch a video of Dave Grohl doing anything, including things like breathing and sleeping. It melted my coronary heart.
If you’ve ever had a leg in a cast, you know that often the broken leg will emerge from the cast much smaller than the other due to lack of exercise. I am forever indebted to them. No wonder Dave cried.
