David Beckham hopes to see Jose Mourinho back in Premier League
Mourinho’s second spell at Stamford Bridge ended on Thursday, with the club sitting 16th in the Premier League following nine defeats this season.
However, the Dutch mentor is unlinkely to take charge when Chelsea host Sundeland at Stamford Bridge in their Premier League outing later today.
Speculation soon gathered pace that Chelsea would turn to Hiddink at least until the end of the season.
“It is possible that we would still use this weekend to discuss. I can not tell you more at this point”.
Chelsea technical director Michael Emenalo said “palpable discord between manager and players” was a factor in Mourinho’s dismissal, but captain John Terry said player unrest was not the reason for his departure.
“He is immensely proud of his eight trophies at Chelsea (he also won one FA Cup, three League Cups and one Community Shield), and thanks the fans for all their support throughout his two spells at the club”.
“We are aware there have been rumours of player power at the club, but I want to make it clear that is not the case”, Terry wrote in the programme. Before I take a decision, I want to have insight.
Saturday’s match with Sunderland is expected to be led by Steve Holland and Eddie Newton, while Guus Hiddink has arrived London, to possibly take over on an interim basisi, as he did in 2009.
Chelsea head coach Jose Mourinho has left Chelsea with the club languishing one point above the relegation zone just seven months after winning the Premier League title.
“Whether or not I’m visiting their next match (against Sunderland) depends on my first conversation”. Then I’ll decide if I should stay in London longer.
Slaven Bilic, the West Ham manager, described Mourinho as “the best in the business”.
Despite reports of an increasingly toxic relationship between Mourinho and the Chelsea players, Terry joined Cesc Fabregas and Cesar Azpilicueta in paying warm tributes to the manager.
“It is hard for me to give my opinion about a different club, I can only say I am very sad and shocked because it was a big shock for me and I think for all”.
“I was surprised and disappointed in some ways”, said Pulis.
“He won the league last year and had virtually the same squad this year so it’s obviously surprising to see their league position”.
