David Bowie Battled Liver Cancer Prior to His Death at 69
I just feel like an era has ended with his passing…
The organisers have now made a decision to go forward with it as a memorial concert that will be titled The Music of David Bowie. This came just days after Bowie released his incredible new album Blackstar, on his 69th birthday.
CBS is releasing unaired interviews with David Bowie, photographed during at June 13, 2004 performance at The Nokia Isle of Wight Festival in Newport, England.
A memorial concert, which had initially been organized as a tribute show, is also being planned for New York’s Carnegie Hall in March. “An incredible life. An wonderful career”.
Stars including Sir Mick Jagger, Sir Elton John and Sir Paul McCartney could be among those invited to play.
“David was always an inspiration to me and a true original” said Jagger. The only time Bowie waited more than five years in between albums was after his 2003 album, “Reality”, when it took 10 years to released 2013′s “The Next Day”.
“He told me more than one year and three months ago that he had liver cancer, just after he had been told himself. His star will shine in the sky forever”.
Canadian indie rock band Arcade Fire, who collaborated closely with Bowie, said in a statement: “David Bowie was one of the band’s earliest supporters and champions”. She said: “Dave’s delivery of a beautifully penned tribute, with lyrics that do really echo sentiments of the general public and indeed those within the music industry, was really an honour to capture on film”.
Channel 5 had turned off streams from the house on Monday morning to break the news to Ms Bowie. “I have an unbelievable amount of admiration for how he really scraped together his strengths in order to still achieve this”.
