David Bowie began recording a new album in his final weeks
A Northampton musician has written a tribute to David Bowie – after winning an award from The Songwriting Guild, which the legendary rock star was an ambassador to. “I’m not privy to it. I don’t know exactly, but he must’ve taken ill very quickly after that phone call”.
Bowie, who died on Sunday after a secret 18 month battle with cancer, had three BRIT Awards to his name.
A concert in honor of David Bowie’s life and music will be held at Carnegie Hall in New York City on March 31, 2016.
Figures from global streaming service Spotify show there was a jump of 2,822% in Bowie songs played in the hours after his death was announced.
Furthermore, a whooping seven more albums are occupying spaces in the Top 41-100 section of the chart.
Bowie’s last album, “Blackstar”, came out just last week, two days before he passed away, and invented a whole new chapter in his music.
“I thought that I wrote songs and wrote music and that was sort of what I thought I was best at doing”. An icon. Irreplaceable loving friend.
He said Bowie’s album was inspired by Lubbock’s Norman Odam.
The couple were very private about their relationship, with Iman famously saying she fell in love with David Jones the man, not David Bowie the superstar.
