David Bowie Fans Sign Petition To Stop Kanye West Tribute Album

“On others he is rapping with his own lyrics over Bowie’s music”, an unnamed “source” told the paper. By the time this publishes, there will be plenty of material to read, listen to and enjoy regarding David Bowie.

Kanye hasn’t even officially announced plans for the album, but that hasn’t stopped more than 8,000 people from signing a petition on 38 Degrees to stop the rapper from recording any Bowie covers.

In “God Knows I’m Good”, Bowie sings of a poor, elderly woman who is shoplifting and all the while tries to reassure herself that “God may look the other way today”.

Finally, it’s a reminder to search for originality and creativity from ourselves when both can provide foundations for success by bringing new concepts and innovations to the world.

David Bowie’s death has engendered a slew of articles that draw on surprisingly little data in this day and age, because he and his wife, Iman, were such private people.

SW: What are your favorite David Bowie songs?

The 1970s was the first time, specifically in America, where assimilation reigned for almost two centuries, that individuality exploded from every social corner; race, gender, sexual affiliation, musical and artistic branding, even the origin of nationality. Granted, he wasn’t a fan of the touristy town of Woodstock, admitting in 2002, “I went to Woodstock once and I hated it. It was just too cute for words”. “How many people lie instead of talking tall?” which illuminates Bowie’s courage to send himself off with an album very different than any album he has ever released and it sets the morose tone the rest of the album follows.

Some of the things I remember about Bowie will never leave me.

When looking through Bowie’s repertoire over the past 50 years, one can find many references to God and spirituality.

The late British rock musician and actor David Bowie passed away on January 11, leaving in his wake a legacy of matchless portions. Can you name anyone else who’s had the same impact?

Simon Mitchell, who started the petition, wrote: “His music has sound-tracked important events in the lives of many of us”. But if you want to be an artist, it’s David Bowie that you should be studying.

The constellation – or, more accurately, the “asterism” – was chosen by a Dutch-speaking Belgian radio station, Studio Brussels, and Belgium’s MIRA public observatory as a tribute to the singer following his death from cancer last week at the age of 69.

Thankfully for Bowie and all of our sakes, the stars happily shined light on the truth that Kanye will not be covering Bowie.
