David Bowie Reportedly Cremated, Was Plotting a Post-‘Blackstar’ Album
Nicholas Freestone performed Bowie’s Life on Mars at St Albans Cathedral in England soon after hearing the singer had died following an 18 month battle with cancer.
Tributes have been pouring in throughout this week after the Heroes hitmaker passed away on Sunday following a secret battle with cancer.
Honor Louise, who arranged the event, said: “I can’t believe that happened”.
Following the news of his death on Monday, David Bowie’s fans have pored over the lyrics on his final album, Blackstar (depicted by the symbol ★), for final messages left by the great musician.
Bowie is reported to have told his loved ones he wanted to “go without any fuss”, eschewing any funeral service or public memorial. “I knew for a year this was the way it would be”, Visconti wrote on Facebook. According to the Daily Mirror, Bowie explained his wishes to his family and wife Iman, 60. “He always did what he wanted to do”.

Bowie could sell some 130,000 copies of his recently released “Blackstar” album in the U.S.in the week ending January 14, Billboard reports.
Rumours of Bowie’s ill-health had been circling ever since his decade long, temporary retirement, which came after a health scare in 2004 when he collapsed when coming off stage in Germany during his Reality tour.
“He made Blackstar for us”, said Bowie’s longtime producer, Tony Visconti, “his parting gift”. “I wasn’t, however, prepared for it”.
The Music of David Bowie was originally billed as a tribute show featuring his songs, but organisers changed it to a memorial in the wake of his death.
