David Cameron: Farewell my feline friend
The Conservative Party had launched a nine-week election to find a leader and replacement for Cameron, which was cut short on Monday as one of the two lead contenders, Andrea Leadsom, unexpectedly chose to quit the race.
Downing Street says arts minister Ed Vaizey, a friend of Cameron, has left the government.

The Queen’s equerry Wing Commander Sam Fletcher was the member of the household who greeted and said goodbye to the new and old prime ministers. He said: “I’m told that there are lots of leadership roles out there at the moment”.
She has worked with the Bank of England in the past before entering front-line politics. He clearly feels most emotional about public service and what that sense of duty to the country means to him.
In an interview with the magazine Third Way in 2003, Mrs May said that her upbringing had taught her “the value of service to others…to make a difference in their lives”.
He said as the United Kingdom gears up for negotiations with the European Union on its exit that “foreign policy negotiations also incorporate considerations related to Overseas Territories”. “And I’m sure he would like to acknowledge that it was labour votes that helped him to get it through on that occasion”, he said.

May has indicated however that she will not be rushed into triggering the formal procedure for Brexit.
“But I will be willing you on”.
Cameron’s audience with the Queen will be swiftly followed by the arrival at the Palace of May, who will be formally appointed the UK’s second female Prime Minister by “kissing hands” with the monarch.
