David Cassidy charged with leaving scene of crash
The 65-year-old was cited for an improper lane change, unknowingly operating vehicle while having a suspended drivers license due to a previous DUI conviction and operating a vehicle with a expired registration.
Cassidy, 65, who was described to FHP as “a clean facial shaved older Caucasian male” in blue jeans and a gray shirt, allegedly attempted to cover the car’s tag then took off west on I-595 DESPITE A BLOWNUP TIRE AND DAMAGES to the vehicle.
Police found the auto about an hour later at Cleveland Clinic in Weston, not far from the original scene. When police questioned him, he claimed he had exchanged info with the truck driver and that he was at the hospital for an unrelated appointment.
Police did not test Cassidy for alcohol or drugs, the paper said.
The Broward County State Attorney’s office filed Cassidy’s citation for leaving the scene as a possible misdemeanor this week. Worse yet, the Partridge Family star completely fled the scene following the accident, which could have been a decision he made due to the fact that his license is now suspended. A hearing has been scheduled for October. 27.
The charges are not Cassidy’s first go around with the law.
Almost two years later, August 2013, he was stopped in New York.
The troubled star also had money problems.
Last month, it was sold for $2 million. The divorce has been going on since February 2014, when Shifrin-Cassidy filed to split after 23 years of marriage.
Cassidy paid $1.1 million for the five-bedroom, six-bathroom Fort Lauderdale home in 2001.
