David de Gea ‘not concerned’ Real Madrid have given up on him
David de Gea has dismissed any notion of moving to Real Madrid and said he is very happy at Manchester United. He also expressed his joy that “one of the best goalkeepers in world football” chose to commit his future.
But De Gea, who left Atletico to sign for United in 2011, believes Diego Simeone’s men were the more worthy winners because they had a tougher route to the final.
“I came to United to win trophies”.
Carrick has won five Premier League titles and the Champions League since joining United from Tottenham Hotspur for £18.6 million in 2006, and will be hopeful of adding to his collection under Jose Mourinho.
When asked whether he is disappointed to know that Real Madrid won’t pursue him, the goalkeeper told Cadena Ser: “No”.
It is suggested that while Los Blancos president Florentino Perez was still keen, his eagerness to sign de Gea at the expense of Navas had threatened to cause friction with Zidane.
“I think United needed a great coach like him, coach with a personality, a victor”.
On being at Manchester United: “United have given me everything”. And besides, I’m not thinking about anything other than the national team.
‘I’m at a big club, which gives me love every day.
“United’s decision to sign Mourinho is the right move”.
Several big names have been linked with a move to Old Trafford in recent weeks but the Express are citing reports coming out of Spain that claim Mourinho has identified Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos as an ideal addition to his new-look squad. At times under Van Gaal, it appeared that there was a lack of organization in the team, forcing De Gea to make saves he should have never faced in the first place.
Manchester United have indicated David de Gea will be staying by using him in a PR campaign.
