David DeJesus to Angels for Eduar Lopez: Latest Trade Details, Reaction
The 33-year-old Murphy is hitting. CBSSports.com’s Jon Heyman confirmed the Murphy trade, while Tampa Bay made a separate team announcement. The two trades could be done to fill the void in left field. In exchange for Murphy, the Angels sent infielder Eric Stamets to Cleveland. He’s hitting. 259 with five home runs and 26 RBI on the season and will give the Angels another veteran left-handed bat to rotate in the lineup. Stamets is batting. 248 in 62 games in Double-A this year.
While DeJesus, Murphy and Victorino were not among the top outfield bats believed to be available, a list that includes San Diego’s Justin Upton, Cincinnati’s Jay Bruce, Milwaukee’s Gerrardo Parra and Philadelphia’s Ben Revere, the Angels did not have to give up any of their premium prospects to acquire them. He has a. 274 career batting average with 99 home runs and 449 RBIs with Boston, Texas and Cleveland.
The 35-year-old DeJesus is hitting. For DeJesus, Tampa Bay will get 20-year-old Lopez, who was the Angels’ 22nd-best rookie prospect this spring.

New players will more than likely be available to the Angels on Thursday, although if the Angels continue shopping at this rate, they’ll probably need more airline tickets.
