David Moyes set for Premier League return with Swansea City
Chairman Huw Jenkins and the rest of the board have been desperate to stand by a man who has given the club 12 years of loyal service, and guided them to a best Premier League finish of eighth just last term.
Swansea’s next game is away at Manchester City.
Despite Moyes’ availability following his sacking by Real Sociedad, he’s waiting for the right opportunity to return to management.
It is understood no decision on the manager’s future is imminent, but the Swansea hierarchy are reviewing the game against Leicester, and it is not certain that Monk will take the side to Manchester City next Saturday.
According to The Sun, Rodgers is being lined up to replace embattled Swansea City manager Garry Monk should the Swans boss be forced out. “Results are not acceptable and I accept that more than anyone else.
The club deserve better than what we are giving them”, Monk said after the defeat to Leicester.
“We can debate the two goals, the first was a handball and the second was offside, but it’s not about that, it’s about the principles we have set as a club, as a team and we’re not doing it”.
With the former long-term Everton manager out of the picture, Swansea will need to reassess their options going forward. I thought the first was handball and the second was offside, but there is no point.
“Of course I am anxious”, Monk said. “We have to play very well to get through this period against the big dogs”.
