David Price Trade Rumors: 3 Possible Destinations For Tigers LHP
And while Tiger fans should be excited the team snagged a promising young pitching prospect in Daniel Norris in exchange, essentially, for Price’s expiring contract that doesn’t mean Detroit won’t miss Price.
The Toronto Blue Jays have acquired ace left-hander David Price from the Detroit Tigers, as first reported by CBS Sports. Boyd, a 6-foot-3 southpaw, boasts a 1.68 ERA, 0.84 WHIP, and 107/24 K/BB ratio in 112 2/3 innings this season between Double-A and Triple-A.
Nightengale adds that the New York Yankees, Toronto Blue Jays and Houston Astros all intend to make serious offers for Price.
Even with the return package as of yet undefined, it’s still a coup for the Tigers, who gave up Austin Jackson, Drew Smyly and minor league shortstop Willy Adames in the three-way deal that netted them a year of Price’s pitching and now two top prospects in return. Also in the deal are left-handed pitchers Jairo Labourt, 21, and Matt Boyd, 24.
Norris will be called up from Triple-A by the Tigers to start Sunday’s game against the Orioles, Chris Iott of MLive.com reports.
We finally got an answer to the age-old question: Are the Detroit Tigers going to be buyers or sellers at Friday’s Major League Baseball trade deadline? Urias is 5-5 with a 2.69 ERA in 49 games started in the Dodgers minor league system since the Dodgers signed him as a 16-year-old.
It’s obviously way too early to say who won this trade, but three prospects with starting potential is a very good haul for less than a half year of Price. He represented the Blue Jays at this year’s All-Star Futures Game and hails from the Dominican Republic.
