DC region breaks Christmas Eve weather records
“Keep in mind however, these records are for Detroit; farther north in Flint, the chance of a white Christmas jumps to 56 percent, while in Saginaw and the Thumb region it rises to 61 percent”.
The Hazardous Weather Outlook has been issued for all New Jersey counties.
A white Christmas is not likely this year, coming off record-breaking high temperatures earlier in the week. Friday’s expected high is 81 degrees, which would break the record for December 25 by 1 degree.
The National Weather Service says the eastern part of the Puget Sound lowlands could see some snow as an “upper level trough” slowly makes its way east and is replaced by an “upper level ridge”.
“There’s a chance the temperatures could still fluctuate with a few hours of sun left”, said NWS meteorologist Lance Franck, based in the Mount Holly office.
New Yorkers were embracing the mild temperatures and looking forward to the possible record-setting high on Thursday.
The forecast for Christmas Day has a high temperature of 47 degrees, with a slight chance of rain in the morning. Temperatures are starting out in the high 30’s to low 40’s in the valley, and in the mid 20’s to mid 30’s in the mountains.
Showers will remain in the forecast for Christmas Eve night, but rain isn’t expected to be as heavy as Wednesday night.

Temperatures will continue to rise into a range of eight to 12 degrees this evening.
“Especially after a year ago, it was a little tough, and this is a little insane”, said Marvin Ceglio of Great Kills who was taking a morning walk in Gateway National Recreation Area.
If it does snow on Christmas Day, it will be an uncommon event in Fort Collins.
