De’Andre Johnson, Florida State freshman quarterback, dismissed from team
State Attorney Willie Meggs said he chose to charge Johnson, 19, with misdemeanor battery after viewing the footage from the West Tennessee Street bar Yiannis on June 24.
Johnson turned himself in to police last Tuesday and was released on a $500 bond.
Florida State suspended Jordan indefinitely last week, citing “athletic department policy”. He then grabbed her arm and she attempts to hit him.
According to the TPD report, Johnson allegedly pushed a woman from behind “aggressively” when she approached the bar.
The 19-year-old is seen in the video punching a woman after a confrontation inside a bar.
In a statement Monday, July 6, 2015, coach Jimbo Fisher announced Johnsons immediate dismissal.
A statement from Johnson’s attorney Jose Baez said his client was “extremely embarrassed” and was participating in community service and faith-based programs that focus on battered women. On Monday the Tallahassee Democrat posted a five-minute video of the alleged assault, showing a woman waiting to order at a bar when Johnson pushes past year. At the 1:46 mark, Johnson (in the white hat turned backwards) and the woman come into view.
The woman stayed at the bar and Johnson left with his friends, according to the court documents. She then took a swing at Johnson with her left fist that appeared to miss him.
