Dead, 10 Wounded In Ankara Car Bomb Blast Targeting Military: Governor
Five people have been killed and 10 injured after a huge explosion, believed to be a auto bomb, took place in Ankara outside military barracks, the capital’s governor has said.
Ankara Governor Mehmet Kılıçdar said the attack was carried out with a auto bomb.
The blast happened near government buildings, Parliament and Turkey’s military headquarters. Ambulances have rushed to the scene.
It was not clear who was behind the bombing Wednesday. Meanwhile, the prime minister said he would cancel his upcoming trip to Brussels to join the European Union summit about the migration crisis.
Police told The Associated Press it is investigating the cause of the explosion.
An explosion struck near military vehicles in the Turkish capital of Ankara on Wednesday evening, and casualties have been reported, according to Turkish state broadcaster TRT.
Turkey has been hit by a serious of attacks recently, including a suicide bomber that killed 10 people in Istanbul last month.
Those attacks were blamed on IS jihadists, as were two other deadly bombings in the country’s Kurdish-dominated southeast earlier in the year.
