Dead in Officer-Involved Shooting in Boston
One person is dead in an officer-involved shooting in Boston Friday morning, according to police.
Police responded to a call of a shooting at 107 Devon Street.
An officer ordered the man to drop his gun three times before firing, Evans said.
After a pursuit on foot, the suspects shot at the police officers, who then returned fire. Evans said that one of the men had been shot in the initial incident.
Authorities have not publicly identified the person killed, but Evans said he was well known to police, having several past firearms offenses.
“Nobody likes to take a life, but if you’re gonna point a gun at one of our officers in the way he did, obviously we’re gonna protect ourselves and we’re gonna neutralize the threat”, Evans said.
When police arrived, they found two people in the middle of nearby Laredo Street. “We’re very fortunate with the exchange of gunfire that none of our officers were injured”.
“Not too many people didn’t know who he was”, he said. Evans said they were transported as a precaution due to the stress involved.
The Suffolk County district attorney’s office says it’s conducting an independent investigation.
