Dead rodent found in Subway sandwich
Matt Jones was shocked to see a dead rodent in his friend Jay’s sandwich as they dined in a Subway in Lincoln City, Oregon. I don’t know if that would be a good thing or not.
On Tuesday, a man in Lincoln City, Oregon, went to Subway and ordered an Italian sub, with a few extra spinach.
Subway customers and employees were stunned earlier this month when they saw a rodent in a spicy Italian sub sandwich. The rodent was at the bottom of the spinach bin, and when the employee was preparing the sandwich it scooped up and was spread across the sandwich along with spinach.
As for other people who might have eaten spinach from the bin where the dead mouse was, inspectors who consulted with a physician said that while it is extremely gross “the risk of someone becoming sick due to eating lettuce with those particular circumstances were very low”, Connell said. He and a friend ordered two sandwiches, both with a few spinach.
“It’s the funniest thing I’ve ever seen, but it’s also the most disgusting thing I’ve ever seen”, Jones said, recalling his initial reaction.
In a statement, Subway said, “To be cautious all of the products in the sandwich unit were disposed of and a thorough cleaning took place, in which the Health Department gave the restaurant a clean bill of health”.
“This business did everything that was possible to take care of this in a prompt fashion”, Connell said, adding the health department believes the likelihood that someone could get sick from eating the mouse-tainted greens is low.
The county health department turned up straight away to inspect the restaurant, looking for droppings and other dead rodents. Wonderful! WTF!! The manager was in shock!’ “Everything was sanitized and cleaned properly afterwards”. Jones, nevertheless, wrote to Subway main office to complain so the incident won’t be repeated.
KGW contacted the franchise headquarters for comment.
KGW contacted Subway headquarters again on Tuesday, to identify the vendor which supplies the Lincoln City restaurant with bagged spinach.
