Deadly shooting reported on Northern Arizona University college campus in
Police say the shooting at Northern Arizona University that killed one student and wounded three others early this morning began as a fight between two groups.
The shooting occurred in a parking lot outside Mountainview Hall dormitory at the northeast side of the Flagstgaff campus.
The Akron Beacon Journal reported the suspect walked up to a man, pointed a gun at him, and stole his money and wedding ring.
“This is not going to be a normal day at NAU”, said school president Rita Cheng. “It’s insane. You don’t think this stuff happens”.
Student Maria Gonzalez told The Associated Press that she at first suspected firecrackers.
In a statement on its website, the Dallas-based airline said it’s working on the technology issues and airport-based employees are helping customers with their individual itineraries. The surviving victims were taken to Flagstaff Medical Center with gunshot injuries.
Congresswoman Ann Kirkpatrick, who lives in Flagstaff, said her heart was hurting, but expressed confidence that the city “will only grow stronger in hard moments like these”.
About 20 minutes later, police were called to Community East Hospital to investigate a man shot.
All four victims were students.
