Deadmau5 slams New York Times’ ‘Where Are Ü Now’ interactive
In a new and surprisingly interesting video interview for the New York Times, the unlikely trio of Skrillex, Justin Bieber, and Diplo come together to explain how they made a hit song together.
Justin Bieber talks about how he teamed up with Skillrex and Diplo for their hit “Where Are U Now” in this new video feature!
“I think that when you hear his voice… there’s something that happens”. The sounds that are used are not cheap. While Skrillex and Diplo nearly could have succeeded in convincing us that the track was some kind of musical opus, Bieber’s own dialogue cut it back down to size by giving the song’s critics (like us, for instance) even more firepower.
But reliable firebrand Joel ‘Deadmau5’ Zimmerman didn’t get past that initial face-palm from Bieber, heading straight to his favourite trolling medium of Twitter to fire off some serious shade about the video, the collaboration and the price of a “sound”. I just will never “buy” Justin in that genre. “I’m done”, Zimmerman tweeted. I don’t want to live here anymore… He also posted video on Instagram in which he recreates the drum sounds from the song while someone off camera throws money at him. The sounds Skrillex and Diplo pump his song with definitely don’t have the typical Bieber bounciness to them.
