‘Deadpool’ sequel already in works
Hearsay and positive thoughts isn’t enough to go on, so there’s a more scientific way to project how well a movie will do.
20th Century Fox have already greenlit a sequel to this Friday’s Deadpool, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
In case you hadn’t noticed, Deadpool is getting quite a bit of buzz.
As AceShowbiz reveals citing THR, Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick who wrote “Deadpool” are writing the script for the follow-up.
The long-awaited Deadpool movie sees Ryan Reynolds flanked by a supporting cast that includes Haywire’s Gina Carano, former Homeland actress Morena Baccarin, Game Of Thrones veteran Ed Skrein and Silicon Valley star TJ Miller.
Deadpool is looking to open at around $65 million over the upcoming weekend (which includes the holiday on Monday), and if crowds at early promo screenings are any indication, it could be a little more. Although, we might have some confirmation on the what the sequel will revolve around, with rumours swirling of a name drop contained within the alternate post-credits scene doing the rounds. We don’t know the actual budget for Deadpool but its certainly less than $100 million, plus the considerable marketing spend. He’s an odd character who breaks the fourth wall and has a filthy mouth, so a weird R-rated superhero movie was a big gamble that Fox just wasn’t ready to take. He hasn’t been cast just yet, and only gets a name drop in the scene.
