Deafheaven reveal details of new album, New Bermuda
And now, they’re tweaking the formula a little for New Bermuda, a record that will be out in October via indie powerhouse ANTI-. Almost two full years after their breakthrough Sunbather, one of the best metal albums of 2013, the San Francisco aesthetes have shared a trailer for their third album which seems to suggest more of their now-trademark mix of placid guitar lines and gale-force drum blasts. It was produced, engineered, mixed and mastered by Jack Shirley, who has worked with Deafheaven on previous releases.
A press release notes that the five-song collection from the shoegazing black metal crew was recorded last April at Oakland, CA’s 25th Street Recording and East Palo Alto, CA’s Atomic Garden Recording.
New Bermuda follows 2013′s Sunbather.
Deafheaven released the single “From the Kettle Onto the Coil” past year. That’s the album’s artwork above, which features an oil painting by Allison Schulnik.
Deafheaven will perform at the Heavy Montreal Festival on August 8th.
