Debut double a ‘dream come true’ for Lukaku
Manchester United opened their 2017/2018 Premier League campaign with a comprehensive 4-0 win over West Ham.
Lukaku called his club debut for the Red Devils a ‘”dream come true”, while manager Jose Mourinho felt it was the ideal way to get his new star striker confident for the season ahead.
It has now been four years since United finished in the top three, having previously gone 22 years without finishing outside top three under Sir Alex Ferguson.
Harry Kane, the top scorer in the last two Premier League seasons, has now failed to score in his last 11 league games in August, although he struck the post against Newcastle.
“I don’t know if Pogba’s that, I think he’s a good player, I think he’ll add to Manchester United, but will he make the difference?” We have reasons to be optimistic.
“The other teams at the top of the Premier League have made three or four big signings, majority coming for foreign countries and they may need time to settle, but Spurs are ready to from the start now and have a proven team”. Because many times last season we deserved to win and we didn’t.
There were plenty of positives for the United manager.
This was why Manchester United bought Nemanja Matic; this is why Manchester United bought Romelu Lukaku.
Arsenal won a seven-goal thriller on Friday night, before Liverpool were held to a 3-3 draw away to Watford, and then champions Chelsea succumbed to a 3-2 loss to Burnley.
A family of Reds who had travelled all the way from Washington DC added: “It was our first match coming over from the USA and it was wonderful”.
“[It] depends on what was happening behind [closed] doors”, he said.
“I think Real Madrid was too early for him”. It was hard for him to come and adapt to the beginning, and I think Victor needs a little bit of time and he’s going to have that time. We have him and we are very happy.
“So I’m convinced I have – not just the hope – but the conviction that our second season, in terms of the quality of our team, is going to be better”. But, there is a serious need for them to get off to a solid start, pick up three points and mount their title challenge in the right manner.
Morden, who travelled from Denmark to watch the Reds for the third time, was pleased with United’s hunger for goals.
Say whatever you like about the surrounding caveats to Lukaku’s technical game, there is one thing you can never doubt – that he scores goals. “It’s always nice for their confidence”.
