Dee Gordon Dislocated Thumb
Miami Marlins All-Star second baseman Dee Gordon left Saturday night’s game against the Cincinnati Reds with a dislocated left thumb, suffered while sliding headfirst into first base on a single in the seventh inning.
Gordon had an excellent first half to the 2015 season, one that was worthy of his starting nod in the All-Star Game.
The Miami Marlins offense broke loose on Saturday, helping them notch a lopsided 14-3 victory against the Cincinnati Reds.
The Marlins say X-rays were negative, and there was no apparent ligament damage.
This was also the first time in franchise history for the Marlins to have two players make the all-star game, and it was the bright spot in an otherwise dreary season, which continues to get more depressing. They’re already without right fielder Giancarlo Stanton, who is out through July with a broken hamate bone in his left hand.
Colorado Rockies shortstop Troy Tulowitzki has been announced as Gordon’s replacement on the National League All-Star roster.
