Deep Silver to Publish Atlus and Sega Titles in Europe
While NIS America was the previous publisher for Atlus titles in Europe, NIS recently broke off their agreement, citing complications within Atlus after their acquisition by Sega.
The news comes as a surprise, given Persona developer Atlus is owned by Sega, which has a European publishing operation of its own.
It’s a long running complaint for European and PAL gamers, particularly 3DS owners, that a range of excellent titles from Atlus (and sometimes SEGA) either take a long time to arrive in the region or never make the transition.
And it’s a bright one, because Atlus U.S.A. and SEGA of America are partnering with Deep Silver to release multiple upcoming titles in Europe.
Deep Silver has worked with Atlus USA before for the original PlayStation 2 release of Persona 4 (through SquareEnix) and distributing 2011’s Catherine. “[Deep Silver has] a strong passion for being able to deliver physical games to our fans in those territories, which we hold in high regard”. “But for now, we are just relieved that our European Union fans have an answer to ‘will these titles release in Europe?'” I know we haven’t always gotten along together, but that’s the past.
European fans of Atlus games can finally rest easy now that Deep Silver has confirmed that it will publish several Atlus games, including “Persona 5”, in Europe.
Persona 5 is set to be released for the PS3 and PS4 on February 14, 2017 in North America. 7th Dragon III: Code VFD hits the USA next week, July 12, for 3DS. More news to follow shortly on these exciting titles!
