Defending champion Frazer, leader Trumbo lead HR Derby field
This year’s derby takes place at historically pitcher-friendly Petco Park, but that may not work too harshly in Duvall’s favor.
White Sox third baseman Todd Frazier will be the No. 2 seed in Monday’s Home Run Derby at the All-Star festivities in San Diego.
Trumbo, as the player with the most current home runs, is the number one seed.
Frazier, second in the American League with 23 homers, will take on Colorado’s Carlos Gonzalez in the first round, while Trumbo faces the Los Angeles Dodgers’ Cory Seager.
The seedings are based on home runs, so far, this season.
The 26-year-old played 18 games with the Yankees before trading him to the Seattle Mariners in 2012 in exchange for Michael Pineda.
Cano will be participating in his fourth career Derby (also 2011, 2012, 2013).
Duvall, much like this year’s derby as a whole, has a hell of a lot to live up to.
Left-fielder Adam Duvall has been called upon to keep the derby’s title in Cincinnati.
Trumbo, the overall Major League Baseball home run leader, was a no-brainer to be in the contest as long as he was interested in participating. He will be facing off against Corey Seager of the Dodgers, who has hit 17 home runs to date.
In addition to coverage on ESPN and MLB.com, the 2016 T-Mobile Home Run Derby will be broadcast live on ESPN HD, ESPN Deportes, WatchESPN and ESPN Radio in the U.S.as well as ESPN International.
