#Deflategate: NFL source says #Brady will serve 4 game suspension this season
The New England Patriots have moved on from the issue of underinflated footballs, but its effect on the sport and the law continues.
However, Brady then appealed the suspension in federal court, and U.S. District Court Judge Richard M. Berman overturned the suspension on September,3, allowing Brady to play immediately. The fact that Brady was let off the hook and had his suspension revoked, but the league didn’t reinstate the Patriots suspended draft picks is a joke.
Goodell’s total lack of evidence to support the charge of a ball-deflation “scheme” was one of the factors leading Berman to vacate the Brady suspension as an excessive abuse of Goodell’s powers.
A report was compiled by renowned criminal attorney Theodore V. Wells Jr. and the law firm Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison, in combination with the NFL to investigate any potential wrongdoing by Brady and the Patriots regarding the deflation of footballs during the AFC Championship game.
That’s the smart response, because it is highly unlikely that the appeal will be decided before the end of the season. WFAN host Craig Carton said he was with a “very influential person in the NFL” on Thursday.
Carton reports that the league is trying to get the appeal expedited.
But Carton’s co-host, Boomer Esiason, attempted to devalue the source: “What this person doesn’t realize [is] that they all felt the same way prior to Judge Berman’s ruling”. Oral argument also must be scheduled. Is this really that important to somebody?
Rather than just letting it go and admitting that the entire process the National Football League took to “find” Brady guilty was completely unfair, they dig their heels in refuse to admit they were wrong. And it also means that, as Florio suggests, the NFL’s view of the case may be so skewed at this point as to border on “delusional”.
