Delhi’s CM Kejriwal’s office raided
Arjun Jaitley, the Finance Minister of India tried to explain that the CMO wasn’t being raided and that the CBI was probing another case of corruption that had been filed.
CBI sources said that a team of its officials went to the Delhi Secretariat, which houses office of Kejriwal and other ministers in the morning and conducted the search in the third floor of the building. Calling the Prime Minister “a coward and a psychopath”, he alleged that the raid was a result of Narendra Modi’s inability to “deal with me politically”.
Coming out in support of his “friend”, Nitish termed the CBI raid as a new low in the relationship between the Centre and states.
The Central Bureau of Investigation on Tuesday raided Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s office and sealed it.
“My own office raided”. “How can CM’s office keep a file that dates back to 2007”. The Prime Minister is creating an emergency like situation. The CBI officials claimed that, they were searching the office of a senior bureaucrat, who was caught taking bribe, last week.
He also wanted to know why ministers in the previous Congress government and other officers who also signed the supposedly corrupt contracts approved by Rajendra Kumar were not raided.
But Kejriwal said the CBI, which is funded by the central government, was “lying”. A senior union minister said that Modi had “nothing to do” with the raid.
The two men have since clashed repeatedly, with Kejriwal accusing the federal government of blocking a series of initiatives, including a new push to clean up the Indian capital’s polluted skies.
The time has come to reform CBI and make it a truly autonomous body, like the Comptroller and Auditor General or the Election Commission, accountable to Parliament and not to the government of the day. “My department’s files are being looked into using Rajinder as an excuse”, he tweeted.
But, Kejriwal insisted that his office was also raided. Members of Left parties and JD-U were also standing in their seats when the issue was raised.
Control of the state’s police force, land, and law and order rests with the BJP-controlled federal government. It has become a fashion for the Delhi CM to quarrel with Central govt and to take the PM’s name for everything.
“If CBI is used as a tool to raid a Chief Minister’s Office, it is a matter of shame”. How can you criticise the Government of India and the Prime Minister?
He described it as politics of vendetta against a chief minister who is not from the BJP.
