DeLorean vehicle is coming back for the first time in 35 years

The DeLorean Motor Company was founded in 1975 by former General Motors executive John DeLorean, who was responsible for designing beloved cars such as the Pontiac Firebird and the Pontiac GTO.

Also, I’m going to attempt to write this article without any Back to the Future jokes. “We’ve been wanting this to happen”, said DeLorean Motors CEO Stephen Wynne.

“It’s fantastic. It’s a game-change for us”.

The last time a DeLorean rolled off the line was 35 years ago, the station said.

Wynne estimates there are enough supplies in stock to build about 300 cars. But now, with this specialty legislation, the company can use its millions of factory parts (and some that have been recreated from the original blueprints) to build new, 2017 model year DeLoreans complete with a crate engine from an outside supplier.

“There’s no reason to change the appearance of the vehicle”, Wynn said of the iconic design, featured in the Back to the Future movies.

With Stephen’s growing company, he’s very excited for what this first step could mean as he told KPRC2 that he eventually hopes to up the production from one a month to one a week!

Wynne, a British entrepreneur, set up shop in Texas in 1995 and began selling refurbished DeLoreans for $45,000 to $55,000. Wynne hopes to sell the new ones for less than $100,000.
