Delta says 90 more flight cancellations; others predict more
The disruption was so severe on Monday that, at one point, Delta warned passengers that information provided by its employees, website and app may be out of date. For significant delays and cancellations, Delta is offering a refund which can be requested from this page.
Customers all the way from Tokyo to San Francisco complained on Twitter that they were stranded at airports.
The airline is scrambling to get back to normal operations.
Delta’s travel waiver has been extended. That’s on top of about 1,000 flights it cancelled on Monday, stranding passengers at airports around the globe.
Delta did some things right, like posting a video of Bastain apologizing to customers at 1:30 p.m. Monday – a fairly quick response for an airline.

About 530 Delta flights were canceled Tuesday, the second-biggest US airline said in a separate statement. “We did have a redundant backup power source in place, but unfortunately some of our core systems and key systems did not kick over to the backup power source when we lost power, and as a effect of that, it caused our entire system effectively to crash”.
He did not say when Delta, the No. 2 U.S. airline by passenger traffic, expected to return to normal operations following the power outage in Atlanta, where Delta is headquartered.
“We were able to stabilize the universal power and quickly restore power, but when that happened, some of our network equipment did not switch over to the backup system”, Edwards said Wednesday.
Delta Air Lines’ August and third quarter of fiscal 2016 (3QFY16) unit revenue is expected to get hurt from the current flight cancellations.
Several flights were delayed Monday after Delta Air reported a massive systems issue.
The glitch follows several high-profile computer problems faced by USA airlines in the past year. Many customers have already been contacted by Delta agents, the airline said.
Georgia Power spokesman John Kraft said a failure overnight of Delta’s switchgear equipment caused the outage.
“Multiplied across tens of thousands of pilots and flight attendants and thousands of scheduled flights”, West said, “rebuilding rotations is a time-consuming process”.
The Atlanta-based carrier canceled more than 620 flights by late afternoon Tuesday, after scrubbing around 1,000 flights a day earlier, and disgruntled passengers howled over disrupted summer travel plans.
