DeMarco Murray says he isn’t looking to leave Eagles
Running back DeMarco Murray’s first year with the Eagles wasn’t a great one for him or for the team and his relationship with former coach Chip Kelly was under the microscope for much of the year because of Murray’s steep drop in playing time from his final year with the Cowboys.
According to the report, the Eagles are not convinced that Murray can turn things around next season. Perhaps Dez Bryant read that report, because on Thursday, the Cowboys star receiver made a decision to publicly recruit Murray, telling him to “come on home” on Twitter.
If money wasn’t involved, the chances that Murray and the Eagles would split up are very high, and the chances of him landing back in Dallas are nearly as high.
Any team that had interest in acquiring Murray would nearly certainly want him to restructure his contract, which has five years and $40 million remaining on it, including $9 million in guaranteed money. “Obviously, it’s something for me, that’s not the lasting impression I want to leave in my mouth and the fans and my family, anyone”, Murray said. I take football very, very serious. I love it, besides my family and my faith, obviously. I’ll just continue to work hard.
It’s fair to say Murray has eyes on greener pastures, places where he believes he can be successful and earn the large contract he signed. The Oakland Raiders, Seattle Seahawks and returning to the Dallas Cowboys are all possibilities. “I’m signed for four years and I’m committed”. Those were his lowest totals since 2012, when he missed six games due to injury. But that year he rushed for 1,845 yards and 13 touchdowns and finished fourth in NFL MVP voting. If he’d prefer to be traded, same rules apply.
“I think a DeMarco Murray fits well into what I can bring”, Pederson during his introductory press conference a couple weeks ago.
