Demi Lovato denies ripping off Katy Perry in new single
After teasing the track for weeks on her social media, Demi Lovato dropped “Cool For The Summer”.
Demi, of course, was not afraid to speak up and defend herself on the matter, taking to Twitter to clear the air, noting that they sounded nothing alike.
Demi Lovato says her newly released song ‘Cool For The Summer’ is more ‘provocative’ than her past music because she’s now more ‘badass’ now. It’s a juicy apple-slice of her forthcoming, yet-untitled new full player, and Lovato shares the songwriting credit with Max Martin, Ali Payami, Alexander Erik Kronlund and Savan Kotecha (who penned the Cher Lloyd-assisted Really do not Care). “But at the same time none of these things are representing the badass that I am”. “Got my mind on your body/And your body on my mind/Got a taste for the cherry/ I just need to take a bite/Don’t tell your mother/Kiss one another/Die for each other/We’re cool for the summer”, Lovato sings. I’m totally that, but in pop music. It’s definitely more grown up than my other singles I’ve released. “There’s Rihanna and Nicki Minaj”. This is how you get dresses for and hang at the beach.
