Democratic Debate Still On But Topics Shifting After Paris Attacks
Pre-debate coverage will begin at 8pm ET.
Bernie Sanders will join us for a sit-down interview in Iowa, and we’ll ask him what he thought of his own debate performance – and whether he thought he scored any points on his rivals during the high-profile matchup.
The second Democratic presidential debate is scheduled for Saturday night in Des Moines, Iowa, featuring three candidates: Vermont Sen.
“The senator believes that the crisis in Syria will be solved diplomatically, not militarily”, Sanders said in a statement last month. CBS News congressional correspondent Nancy Cordes, Kevin Cooney, an anchor with KCCI, the CBS affiliate in Des Moines, and Des Moines Register political columnist Kathie Obradovich will be the panelists.
CBS News, Twitter and the Des Moines Register have teamed up to host the debate, which will take place at Drake University. It will also be available on the CBS News mobile app. This just launched previous year, providing continuous newscast and allows users to click on streams of individual stores.
CBSN, CBS News’ digital streaming news network, will provide a stream of the debate enhanced with real-time Twitter trends, instant reactions, curated tweets and other information onscreen.
Cut Cable Today says that the first Democratic debate set viewing records at over 15.8 million viewers. Perhaps a new record will be set this weekend with the second Democratic debate.
“The goal of the moderator is to illuminate the views of the candidates on the issues that matter the most to voters and you don’t need to be on the side of the party to do that”.
