Democratic socialist Sanders outraises Republican Bush in third quarter
In July, the Bush team released his second quarter fundraising numbers five days before the reporting deadline despite having formally launched his campaign less than a month earlier.
That’s more than twice what any other Republican outside group had amassed by June 30, according to the most recent fundraising reports available for super PACs.
Bush has made a point of proclaiming transparency in his campaign – an indirect jab at Democrat Hillary Rodham Clinton, who remains the subject of an investigation about the private email server she used as secretary of state.
Bush, who is fluent in Spanish and whose wife, Columba, was born in Mexico, has taken a more moderate stance on immigration reform than many of his fellow Republicans. Bush reported anyone who raised $17,600, dramatically less than the $100,000 threshold Clinton is using. Combined, these new candidates raised $16.1 million. Ted Cruz, whose campaign raised $12.2 million in the third quarter and ended the month with $13.5 million in the bank.
Clinton is sitting on just shy of $33 million, according to the new FEC quarterly report.
For example, 78% of Republican primary voters say Jeb “has the right kind of experience to be president”, 76% say he is “honest and trustworthy” and 76% say he “has the right kind of temperament and personality to handle an global crisis”. The real estate tycoon also saw an influx of support from donors as he rode a wave of anti-immigrant belligerence to become the undisputed Republican front-runner. Poll leader Donald Trump is self-financing. That is why the campaign has spent so much time and money contacting voters in early states like Nevada and New Hampshire. His burn rate was 40 percent-less than half of Bush’s. He was the first candidate to drop out, ahead of Walker. He had $2.7 million left to spend as the month began. Marco Rubio – started October with bigger cash reserves than the $10.27 million Bush’s aides stated he nonetheless had obtainable within the bank.
Doster added: “We have the resources we need to go deep into this primary process”.
What’s more, Bush has been spending money faster than a few of his Republican counterparts. Despite raising more than his competitors, Carson’s campaign finances may be unsustainable. “I’m proud of what we did in the third quarter fundraising, which is always a really hard quarter given the summer and everything else”.
Carson also raised $20 million in the third quarter, more than Bush and Rubio combined.
The Carson campaign’s burn rate on fundraising means that it cost the campaign 50 cents for every dollar raised. “They’re running a more modest operation in the last two weeks, and the traveling party has definitely shrunk”.
