Denard Robinson: Starting Sunday
In his third season with the Jaguars, Bradley’s team now sits at 5-8 and remain in the thick of the AFC South division title race.
The Atlanta Falcons were on the receiving end of a similarly embarrassing loss last Sunday. The Falcons have lost all hope of a playoff appearance. Originally a fifth-round pick in the 2013 NFL Draft, he would go on to start nine games for the Jaguars at running back in 2014, rushing for 582 yards and four touchdowns.
The Jaguars simply need to take care of business against a team that is struggling and they should defeat. Six plays later Bortles teamed with wide receiver Allen Robinson on a 10-yard scoring pass.
The former MI quarterback is returning to a starting role with the Jacksonville Jaguars and is confident he made strides while playing behind rookie T.J. Yeldon this season.
Earlier in the week, the Jaguars signed Jonas Gray off the Miami Dolphins practice squad and it’s been a foregone conclusion that Yeldon wasn’t going to play this week. In the last meeting in 2011, the Falcons dominated the game in a 41-14 win with Matt Ryan throwing for 224 yards and three touchdowns, while Blaine Gabbert finished with just 12 completions for 141 yards, with a touchdown and an interception.
The Jaguars will look to exploit Atlanta’s porous defense, but they may have to do so without one of their top playmakers. This year, the Falcons are last in the league with just 15 sacks, even after drafting hybrid defensive end Vic Beasley Jr.in the first round.
The Falcons haven’t yet been eliminated from a possibility at an NFC Wild Card berth, but they might as well be considering the team’s downward spiral.
The Falcons have gone from one of the NFL’s most surprising to arguably its most disappointing team. I thought we were really balanced today and mixed it up a lot. Ryan hasn’t been able to find any help and has been making some relatively large mistakes in that offensive scheme. And you’re sure not a bad offense when you have Julio Jones.
The Atlanta Falcons have their first victory in almost two months. If Bortles is converting those throws, however, chances are this one gets out of hand rapidly. Both were recovered by the Jaguars, but they killed two drives after the Jaguars tied the game at 14 after being down 17-3. “When our play is called we have to make a play and make them pay”.
“It was a good call by the coach, recognizing what they were going to do”. They were only in playoff contention because of the hapless situations the Colts and Texans found themselves in, not due to their incredible play on the field. If Jacob Tamme can get involved, that would be helpful, and the Jaguars’ defense hasn’t completely shut down tight ends, at least. Also, Freeman out of the backfield. Falcons haven’t scored more than 21 points in eight consecutive games….
