Denver Broncos Safety TJ Ward Suspended For Season Opener
The charges were dropped that August in exchange for four hours of community service.
In the team’s statement statement, the Broncos pointed out Ward is heavily involved in the Denver community. Ward will be suspended for the September 13th regular season opener vs. the Baltimore Ravens as a result of violating the league’s personal conduct policy.
The Denver Broncos will be without safety T.J.
He was charged with misdemeanor assault and disturbing the peace in May of 2014 after allegedly throwing a glass mug at a female bartender when she told him he couldn’t bring his drink inside. The suspension is post-appeal, so the decision is final.
“I was very shocked when I first heard there may be a suspension because the incident happened a year ago”.
The ruling on Ward’s suspension came on the same day the NFL’s four-game suspension of New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady was nullified by a federal court, calling into question the league’s disciplinary process.
Schlereth is the first to admit the Broncos may not score as much this season, but they’ll be better. “It’s disappointing, but he’s accepted responsibility for it. Obviously, he’s a tough player to lose”. Bruton has played in 91 games in six seasons with the Broncos, but has just five career starts, including one in 2014 when Ward sat out with a neck injury. We understand our situation with Derek.
