Denver Broncos Should be worried About Peyton Manning
Or the pair of five-TD games Manning’s had against them.
But Manning is confident the Broncos will be able to weather whatever the Chiefs throw at them after surviving Sunday’s encounter with the Ravens. But, a win is a win, and the Broncos are 1-0. The Broncos’ transitioning offense is searching for its identity this September, and Arrowhead is far from the best place to find it. Denver’s offensive woes don’t all fall on Manning’s shoulder, of course.
Manning ended his game with a Week 1 victory for his Broncos but not thanks to his statistics.
The Broncos aren’t preparing to move on from Manning, not right now. It is a blueprint that seems odd after three years of high-powered offense lighting up the scoreboard but it was something the Broncos needed to do.
-Chiefs pass rush against a offensive line for Denver that struggled at times against the Ravens. The Chiefs should beat the Broncos. They also got sideline passes to Sunday’s opener against the Ravens.
The Chiefs don’t have a great passing attack, but Talib may be tasked with covering star receiver Jeremy Maclin on Thursday night. Tight end Travis Kelce was tremendous last week with 106 receiving yards and two touchdowns. The quarterback position will be the x-factor in this game. Justin Houston was part of a group that had five sacks against the Texans, while Von Miller and DeMarcus Ware have made life miserable for opposing quarterbacks for years. If Manning is pressured and hit a lot, Denver will be in loads of trouble. Another important factor will be time of possession.
That’s because Manning’s arm just doesn’t have it anymore, and it’s becoming enough of a problem to keep him and his team from remaining elite in 2015.
Kansas City won’t take Thursday’s matchup (UAE 04:25 +1) with the future Hall of Famer for granted though, having lost all six divisional contests against Manning since he joined Denver in 2012. CBS and NFL Network will televise the game. If you look at his last ten games we see that his passer rating is the lowest ever in a 10 game span. He has thrown 16 touchdowns and 11 interceptions.
“It’s a stout, tough test. We’ve got some new players that it will be their first time playing at Arrowhead (Stadium) and playing against this defense”.
