Depay to wear Manchester United’s No.7
Depay will make his first competitive appearance for Manchester United this weekend when they open their Premier League account against Tottenham Hotspur.
Announcing the numbers via their official website the club have confirmed that Memphis Depay will don the famous shirt now that Angel Di Maria has departed for Paris Saint Germain (via BBC).
Depay was the Red Devils’ first signing this transfer window and now has the opportunity to fill the shirt that has been worn by some of the club’s greatest players.
David De Gea retains United’s No 1 shirt despite the speculation surrounding his future. Ander Herrera, 23. Shaw, 25.
New keeper Sergio Romero has been given No 20 shirt left by Robin van Persie.
Summer signing Bastian Schweinsteiger will wear the same number 31 he used at Bayern Munich, with Marouane Fellaini taking on the number 27 shirt to allow the German his favoured jersey. Memphis, 8. Mata, 10.
