Deploying to Harvey but watching Hurricane Irma
After seeing the devastation caused by Hurricane Harvey, the Red Cross of western MA said they were overwhelmed by the number of people volunteering to help.
The Red Cross says about 33,800 people sought refuge in more than 240 Red Cross and partner shelters throughout Texas.
“We can’t guarantee new volunteers will be sent to Texas for this emergency”, Springs said. These figures are constantly growing as pledges continue to pour in.
Walmart and the Walmart Foundation have announced a commitment of $20 million in support of relief efforts of Hurricane Harvey. The governor also thanked people across the nation for their support of people in Texas. Tetting says OH volunteers will be involved in recovery efforts for the long haul.
“This disaster is personal to everyone who has roots in Texas”, Michael and Susan Dell said in a statement.

They’re prepared and operating out of more than 200 emergency response vehicles that were sent to the Gulf states from as far away as NY.

Although Harvey’s torrential downpours stopped in Texas, massive flooding continues to deluge hard-hit cities like Houston, Beaumont and Port Arthur.
The airlines are also getting in the act.
The local chapter has 25 volunteers on their way to the storm battered state to help.
