Derek Fisher “disappointed” by New York Knicks axe
If the Knicks think they can do better than Fisher, then they better do it. Otherwise, Melo might not be so patient next time.
Knicks: Jackson, during an interview with MSG Network, said the chances of a trade before next week’s deadline were “very slim” but that they would be looking….
Kurt Rambis, the team’s interim coach, and fellow assistant Jim Clemons saw their influence wane this season.
Head coach of the struggling New York Knicks Derek Fisher was recently fired in the wake of the team’s continuous losing streak.
While it is certainly acceptable to place Jackson at fault for the sorrowful state of the NY roster throughout the past two seasons surrounding star small forward Carmelo Anthony and rookie center Kristaps Porzingis, Fisher has suffered through two horrendous seasons at the helm of the Knicks, compiling a record of 40-96, good for a. 294 winning percentage. Team president Phil Jackson said Rambis is a little more relaxed in his approach. Fisher played for five National Basketball Association teams throughout his career but was mostly known for his time spent with the Los Angeles Lakers.
Anthony admitted that he was a bit surprised with the decision to fire Fisher though he trusts Phil Jackson on the move. As the season began, Matt Barnes was suspended 2 games for his part in what transpired and fined $35K for his comments on Fisher: “violence is never the answer, but sometimes it is”.
“The quicker we can get them in there, the longer we can get them in the playoffs, the better off we’re going to be as an organization”. Jackson also questioned Fisher’s commitment to the triangle offense. Rambis, like Fisher an ex-Laker player, went 56-145 in two seasons as Minnesotas coach. I told the team we’re not connected as a team. We’ve had conflicts, we’ve had disagreements and we know how to work things out. This new potential head coaching candidate is none other than America’s unofficial ambassador with North Korea, Dennis Rodman.
Shaw and Walton both played for Jackson during his tenure as the head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers and the thought of Jackson wanting some familiarity with New York’s new head coach isn’t out of the picture.
