Deron Williams officially signs with Cleveland Cavaliers
According to Joe Vardon of cleveland.com, Deron Williams has officially signed with the Cleveland Cavaliers.
The Cavs wrapped up the month with a 102-95 win over the Milwaukee Bucks and secured a 9-2 record. Bogut is expected to get his release before March 1, the last day where free agents can re-sign with playoff bound teams. That, and the Cavs will have Playoff James.Mindset doesn’t change – The offense was in Irving’s hands, finishing with 34 points on 13-of-25 from the field, including 2-of-10 from beyond the arc. The 6-foot-3 guard spent his first seven seasons with Toronto, went to Detroit, back to Toronto for a season, and then played for Dallas, New York, and most recently played for the Lakers.
It ended a injury-interrupted, 26-game stint with the Mavericks, having joined them after the Warriors lost last season’s finals series to the Cavaliers and bolstered their ranks with superstar Kevin Durant.
Williams, who negotiated a buyout with the Mavericks on Thursday, is now expected to play for a championship with the Cleveland Cavaliers. But if the Spurs signed him, it couldn’t hurt to have another former Golden State Warrior on the team for the playoff push. Veteran point guard Deron Williams will add scoring punch and playmaking abilities the Cavs bench. A proven enforcer and rim protector, Bogut should be a steal for Cleveland once he clears waivers.
With a league-high $127 million payroll, Cleveland was well over the salary cap and not able to do much at the deadline. If he signs elsewhere, Cleveland could turn to 6-11 Larry Sanders or stick with its current roster. Bogut went to the Milwaukee Bucks and Williams to the Utah Jazz.
That said, let’s enjoy what we have while we’ve got it. “That’s all I’ll say”.
“Griff did promise me a starting job, but other than that.” he joked of general manager David Griffin. But the Cavs might be a better fit for that slogan now. He often guards the opponent’s backup point guard, but can play on the wing and in the post.
“He’ll be fine”, Korver said. “I understand there’s a few extra shots I have to take, but I also have to create a lot more plays for my teammates”. He played six games with the Sixers before they waived him.
Basically, what LeBron wants, LeBron gets.
“This team really understands sacrificing yourself and preparing along the way”. He doesn’t care about the luxury tax or the incredible payroll that comes with it, but how will he be as an owner if James leaves when his contract is up at the end of next season or when he becomes a victim of diminishing skills, a term once reserved for Bernie Kosar. Therefore, adding Bogut to the mix would add a legitimate center, which is something they desperately need.
“I’m still very grateful”, he said.
National Basketball Association champions the Cavaliers welcomed Williams, 32, to Cleveland ahead of Monday’s game against the Milwaukee Bucks. “So I went on the court and felt like I had enough in the tank still, so that’s when I chose to play in the game”. The Bucks termed it a left knee sprain.
