DeRozan carries Raptors over Wizards for 3-2 lead
Toronto reshaped its offense last offseason to share the ball more and not just rely on its stars. VanVleet was getting a massage on his shoulder at times today, so he’s not 100 percent yet. However, the Wizards are battling for their playoff lives, they’re playing at home where they’ve already won twice in this series and they were neck and neck with the Raptors in Game 5 until late in the fourth quarter.
The simplest reason the Wizards lost Game 5 is they took some bad shots in the fourth quarter, in which they led by five with just under nine minutes left, by hoisting up one forced 3-pointer after another. “It gave us an opportunity for Kyle and DeMar to get off the ball a little bit more and I thought that was the difference”. Toronto has drilled at least 11 three-pointers in four of five games in this series, and they have also received a solid contribution from several players. Marcin Gortat had 10 points and 12 rebounds.
It’s unclear if center John Henson will be ready for Game 6 after missing the three previous contests with a back injury.
“That’s his opinion. I didn’t play as good as I did at home there, but he made it seem like I was a total bust”. Also, while Toronto did not rebound well in game five, I am confident they can make the necessary adjustments from a rebounding standpoint as overall they are the better rebounding team.
“That’s one reason why we played a certain style of basketball all year, for those types of moments where he didn’t feel like he had to score and carry the load”, Casey said.
VanVleet fed Siakam for a dunk as part of a Raptors’ 9-2 run that cut Washington’s lead to just a point early in the second. Kelly Oubre Jr.is expected to start in Porter Jr.’s place. Wall and the sidelined Drake exchanged public, friendly, nearly branded banter disguised as trash talk, and Wall apparently told said rapper that the Wizards weren’t coming back.
The Washington Post’s Candice Buckner reported Friday that Porter needed to undergo a procedure to alleviate blood collecting in the area of the contusion and that he would not play in Game 6.
Milwaukee guard Eric Bledsoe says an injury to his left hand didn’t affect his play in the Bucks’ Game 5 loss to the Boston Celtics. I think the biggest thing was all five of us communicated and we just got after it. While Wall can claim Toronto did not do anything special into forcing him into seven turnovers in Game 5, the volume of bodies the Raptors are throwing at him is doing something detrimental.
