Derrick Rose Back At Bulls’ Practice, Nearing A Return To Activity
Though Rose didn’t have a formal session with reporters on his first day back with the Bulls, he said the fractured left orbital bone he had surgically repaired September 30 is feeling better and he’s scheduled to be fitted for a mask Tuesday.
The team is remaining hopeful Rose will be available for the Bulls’ opener against Cleveland on October 27. We’ll get with him and watch a few individual film after practice. His return to regular activity is still uncertain, but coach Fred Hoiberg is reportedly seeking clearance for Rose’s full return this week. “I’ll try to keep my cuss words to a minimum, but it’s making me mad”, Butler said, to Johnson. He still isn’t able to do anything as far as court work.
“Derrick, hopefully in another week, will be able to start getting active again, and then hopefully start practicing shortly thereafter”, Hoiberg said in an Associated Press report.
If the Chicago Bulls want to make a deep playoff run in the 2015-16 National Basketball Association season, Jimmy Butler and Derrick Rose will need to find a way to work with each other.
The Bulls center will sit out Monday night’s preseason game versus the Pelicans because of a knee contusion he is dealing with as a result of an injury he got in Thursday’s preseason game against the against the Denver Nuggets.
“I hope so, ” Hoiberg said of that scenario. “Different guys learn different ways”.
“It will help to get him out here running”. But he’s able to pick it up quick.
Perhaps and maybe so, but the fact remains that Rose has been there long enough and based on recent years has proven to be valuable to the Bulls. “It’s a lot of the same things we were doing, just adding on different wrinkles, different options”.
According to Hoiberg, Rose just wanted to get out of the house and avoid cabin fever though he is expected to be more of a spectator for the meantime. The swelling in his eye however hasn’t reduced much and that is a minor concern.
Speaking of time off, it appears a broken face allowed Rose the opportunity to throw his son P.J. pretty much the coolest Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles-themed birthday party of all-time. The Bulls are anxious to get him back and see what he can do in the new offensive system.
