DeSean Jackson: Eagles ‘tried to blow me up’ after release
After months of reacting to comments by ex- Philadelphia Eagles players LeSean McCoy, Cary Williams and Evan Mathis, Kelly now gets to watch a BET reality show starring DeSean Jackson. “It was a slap in the face coming off one of my best seasons in the National Football League”.
An NJ.com story that came out hours before Jackson’s release detailed the receiver’s friendship and association with suspected gang members. Have I went to jail?…I ain’t done none of that.
Immediately following his release, Jackson issued a statement thanking the team and the city, but he called the report of ties to gang activity “reckless and irresponsible.” Less than a week later, he signed a three-year deal with Washington. “That’s cold how they did me”. He also had an NFL-best 13 catches for 40-plus yards. I did expect a cameo by LeSean McCoy or some of Jackson’s current teammates, but that was just the first one, so they’ve got plenty of time to get in one of them.
During the show, Jackson’s friend suggested the wide receiver’s background played a role in his release.
That claim is a bit easier to check out, and it’s hard to argue with Jackson there.
Jackson was released less than an hour after the report. “They call me the ‘Cowboy Killer.’ I’m a (New York) Giants killer, I’m a Cowboys killer, now I’m an Eagles killer, too”. He also tallied four punt return touchdowns and three scores on the ground. Jackson vehemently denied those allegations after his release.
In 2014, his first season with the Redskins, the 28-year-old Jackson caught 56 passes for 1,169 yards and six touchdowns in 15 games.
Jackson previous year had two 100-yard receiving games against the Eagles, who went 1-1 against their NFC East rivals.
