‘Destiny 2’ free trial to kick off this week
Last week, players discovered that a hidden XP scaling system was active in Destiny 2.
If you haven’t yet jumped into Bungie’s latest blockbuster title, Destiny 2, you might be curious to hear that there’s a free trial starting tomorrow, November 28.
Bungie is offering a free trial of the game on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. You can explore Earth’s European Dead Zone and Titan (though you won’t get all the campaign missions), fight fellow players in the Crucible’s Quickplay rotation and progress up to level 7. Bungie says they could make Destiny 2 run at 60 FPS but if they did the world will be smaller, and there will be fewer monsters to kill. As Eurogamer reports, Destiny 2 isn’t without its controversy recently regarding constrained progress and a doubling of the XP required to level up. The lack of transparency is a bigger issue than the arguments over exactly how much XP you should be earning, and is a move that has left numerous game’s most dedicated players feeling swindled. It’s set to take place in a new location within Mercury – the Infinite Forest – and contains a new social space known as the Lighthouse.
Here’s a new trial trailer to tempt your trigger finger.
But Bungie, despite claiming to listen to players and take their feedback into account, seems to have lost any touch with what players would consider an acceptable solution. For more information on the trial, visit the official Destiny page.
Destiny 2 is a rather fun game and I find myself going back to it a couple of times a week to complete missions and grind for gear. A couple of days back, Destiny 2 director Luke Smith posted a tweet trailing a December update to the game that will alter some of the economy and reward systems. I don’t think that’s necessarily an issue. “There is story everywhere”, said Harris.
