Detective Pikachu opens his 3DS investigation in Japan next week

Nintendo finally debuted footage of the wonderfully wacky upcoming 3DS game “Great Detective Pikachu: The Birth of a New Duo”. Only one detective has the skills necessary to bring justice to these dark alleys, and thats the fuzzy yellow mascot of the Pokemon universe, Pikachu. As shown in the trailer, players will team up with a special Pikachu to solve murders and investigate cases.

But wait, there’s more: Pikachu will be voiced by a human male.

Rumors about a Detective Pikachu game first surfaced in 2013 and Nintendo confirmed that a new Mystery Pokemon game was in development. Owners of Japanese Nintendo 3DS systems can purchase Detective Pikachu for 1200 yen (about $10) starting on Wednesday, February 3. How about Pokémon Go, the upcoming smartphone game that lets you catch Pokémon in real life? No word on if this is coming to America, but here’s hoping.
