Detroit police: Woman fatally stabbed on DDOT bus
A 29-year-old Detroit woman is charged with murder for a deadly stabbing on a Detroit bus Wednesday afternoon.
Tiffanie Edwards appeared via video from a police lockup for an arraignment in Detroit’s 36th District Court.
The unnamed 50-year-old became involved in a row with a younger woman before she was attacked as she left the bus at Grand Boulevard and Rosa Parks.
“The victim was taken to a local hospital and was pronounced dead on arrival”.
Police said that the victim may have accidentally bumped into the woman before things spun out of control, WXYZ reports. She reportedly received probation in both cases.
One witness to the stabbing spoke to the Detroit Free Press.
The woman accused of the stabbing remains on the run from police.
Police said there were no other weapons used.
Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan initiated an effort to equip all buses with cameras and upgrade the bus system with 80 news buses in January. If convicted on her charges of first degree murder as a habitual offender, she would face life in prison.
She was not given a bond and held at the Wayne County Jail.
