Devils defenseman Adam Larsson signs 6-year contract
The New Jersey Devils signed restricted free agent Adam Larsson to a six-year contract on Saturday.
Selected by the team with the No. 4 overall pick in the 2011 draft, Larsson has appeared in 192 games over parts of four seasons, scoring six goals with 45 assists.
Stepan, who is scheduled to go to arbitration Monday, is seeking a $7.25 million contract and the Rangers have offered $5.2 million, Sportsnet reported.
With Lamoriello gone, Shero is running the show in New Jersey, and getting Larsson a new contract is a good move for the rebuilding process. The 2014-15 season was his best in the league offensively to this point with 24 points in 64 games.
The 22-year-old Swede joined the Devils for the 2011-12 season.
Recently, long time general manager and President Lou Lamoriello left the Devils to become the general manager for the Toronto Maple Leafs leaving his legacy behind in New Jersey. He also had five goals, seven assists, 10 penalty minutes and a minus-1 rating in 19 Stanley Cup playoff games.
Entering his fifth season, Larsson will likely improve upon what was a career-year last season. In 99 career National Hockey League games over the past two seasons, he has 11 goals, 33 points and 28 penalty minutes.
