Dez Bryant appears on practice field for first time since surgery
Remarkably, just one month after undergoing surgery on his broken metatarsal, Bryant is working on field conditioning with medical staff. He’s now going through on-field rehab with associate athletic trainer Britt Brown.
He was originally given four to six weeks to return, though he later received a more realistic scenario of eight to 12 weeks of recovery time.
Aikman: The real question to me right now is Dez Bryant, whether or not it’s realistic to think he can come back and play. Last week, Bryant had a procedure that took stem cells from his hip and injected them into his foot to make the healing process “sounder”, according to owner and general manager Jerry Jones.
Okay, so you’re tremendously unlucky in sustaining a rash of injuries that’s seldom ever seen in the world of football.
It’s a little early to start thinking like that, but a loss in New York in 10 days would put the Cowboys at 2-4 and well on the fast track to watching the playoffs at home with the rest of us. “We were very disappointed that we tailed-off near the end, but the way Atlanta is playing, we can see that we were up against a few pretty good competition”.
“There’s different kinds of injuries”, Garrett told reporters. Him being a tough guy doesn’t really matter in this situation. “It could easily speed it up, but if not, what you’re always going to be anxious about [is] if you wait another week maybe you’ve got less chance of reinjuring it or basically rushing it. That will give us more peace of mind on rushing it”.
Wide receiver Terrance Williams says he talks to Bryant nightly by phone and says he is eager to return.
