Dez Bryant Could Miss 2015 NFL Regular Season — Dallas Cowboys News
Denver Broncos wide receiver Demaryius Thomas, who has not signed his franchise tender, is up against Wednesday’s deadline to work out a new deal.
Bryant has yet to sign the franchise tag, and Dallas has until Wednesday to sign him to a long-term deal.
It’s unknown if Thomas would hold out or even miss a few games like Dallas Cowboy’s wide receiver Dez Bryant is threatening to do.
Bryant has missed most of the Cowboys’ offseason workout training program, showing up for a handful of workouts and an organized team activitis (OTAs).
This all comes after it was reported shortly before the Fourth of July that Bryant and the Cowboys were on the verge of coming to terms on a contract extension. Coach Gary Kubiak has said he believes a deal will get done.
ABut there is some good news: Bryant’s representatives already met with the Cowboys last June 26.
If the Broncos are found to be part of this collusion involving Demaryius Thomas, the team is going to be in a lot of hot water. Bryant has previously said he would be “highly disappointed” if he had to play under the franchise tag. According to the NFLPA, such contact is prohibited. Bryant caught 88 balls for 1,320 yards and 16 touchdowns, and the Cowboys were one Bryant “drop” away from a possible NFC Championship Game appearance.
So Bryant took to the one medium he can control to say he wasn’t showing up without a long-term deal. While the team needs Bryant on the field to be successful, Jones is using his tremendous business acumen to keep his options open. But Bryant also made the argument that he has proved himself to be the top receiver in the league over the past five years and should be compensated accordingly.
