Dez Bryant ‘flipping’ out about contract
Point is that with the deadline looming, it seems evident that a deal will be struck as the Dallas Cowboys have never expressed any concerns over the Dez Bryant so called ‘situation.’
When it was finally time to commit to Bryant, the Cowboys offered the $12.83 million franchise tag tender, but Bryant has yet to sign this offer. And despite that fact that Stephen Jones claimed the Cowboys would make a push to get a deal done last month, this is the first really tangible evidence of any progress and there’s still no indication as to how fruitful the meeting itself even was.
Bryant would sit out in hopes he forces the Cowboys to put in a clause that prohibits them from using the franchise or transition tag on him a second consecutive season in 2016. Bryant, who was the No. 24 overall pick in the 2010 NFL Draft, has recorded 1,200-plus receiving yards the last three years with more than a dozen touchdowns in each season.
According to the Dallas Morning News, the team is not releasing Brandon Carr, but the Cowboys would like the cornerback to have his cap hit lowered moving forward.
Cowboys’ owner Jerry Jones was not fazed by Bryant’s threat of not playing for them in the regular season if no deal is reached. Carr could take a pay cut, but so far he has resisted that. Bryant has the option of signing a one year tender and ESPN Dallas reporter Todd Archer speculates that the receiver will end up on that deal over a long term contract. The Cowboys didn’t hesitate to let him go after his greatest season.
Aside from his talent, Bryant is also one of the most passionate and emotional players about the game of football both on and off the field.
